The Frazer School chess team accepts first-ever NIL sponsorship from College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving^®, the award-winning company and industry leader in stress-free solutions for junk removal and moving needs, has become the first brand to provide a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) sponsorship to a high school chess team. The Frazer School chess team received the sponsorship, which will help pay for tournament travel and related costs, in a ceremony at the school yesterday. College HUNKS values students that compete both on and off the field and wants to raise the profile for those who don’t typically benefit from NIL sponsorship deals. 

The Frazer School’s award-winning chess team includes International Master Bach Ngo (11^th grade), Abhiram Pothuri (10^th grade), Jerry Yao (10^th grade), Jolie Huang (10^th grade), and its Coach and National Master Britt Ryerson. The team members previously attended Buchholz High School, where they have won four National Championships since 2018 and will bring the same winning mentality to the new Frazer School.

The sponsorship went into effect on July 24, 2024, just as the Florida State Board of Education ratified the new rule allowing high school students to accept NIL sponsorship. Florida now becomes the 36^th state to approve high school NIL, and College HUNKS is the first company to announce a sponsorship on ratification day in Florida.
