Three arrested after fight at Eastside High School
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Chantrel Anastasia Griffin, 18, and two juveniles were arrested yesterday after a student said she was “jumped” by three students at Eastside High School.
At about 11:58 a.m. on April 15, the School Resource Deputy responded to a report of a fight in the mall area of the school, and the 16-year-old victim reportedly told him she was “jumped” by three other students.
The deputy reported that surveillance video showed the victim walking in the hallway when the first juvenile approached her and they exchanged words; the first juvenile allegedly dropped her bookbag and physically attacked the victim, and then Griffin and the second juvenile allegedly started punching the victim, who fell to the ground.
The victim sustained injuries to her head and face as a result of the attack.
The two juveniles, whose names were not released, were charged with battery (a misdemeanor) and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
Griffin has been charged as an adult with child abuse without great bodily harm, a third-degree felony. Her criminal history is not available because those documents are not posted on the court’s website for child abuse charges. Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered her released on her own recognizance.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

That thing is a high school student?!? Lol, can’t wait to read these 🤣
Looks like she us rockin tge MAGA hair color. LOL
This was never meant as a dig on the GOP. I thought I say it out of humor before Jazzman, Crying Bear, Eastman cried foul.
And they want to close schools, combine younger kids with older kids, pay the teaching staff less and pay the school board members more money! They are not the ones doing the work! Also, I do understand these were high schoolers and not younger and older mix. It’s just what is going on now.
Definitely mainstream and not IB.
Imagine the fear the IB students have everyday.
Eastside is so dangerous it would be safer for the IB’s to move them to the County Jail on 39th Ave and put them in General Population at least there would be a CO there to come by and break up any fights.
Also it takes the combined effort of all the IB’s just to bring Eastside’s school grade to barley passing and keep it from being a F school.
Unfortunately, these are the types of individuals and behaviors some sitting SBAC members discourage school administrators from addressing through referrals and other disciplinary actions.
Those board members think the rights of other children should be superseded by the rights of thugs. They should stop asking, “Where have all the students gone?”
My son went to Eastside IB program years ago. They had 2 resource officers when he started and had 4 when he graduated. My son said the worst fights were among the girls. An fellow IB student had to go to the hospital when one of the ‘general population’ inmates dropped a trash can on he head from the second floor.
Life can be cruel.
