Three more UF protesters take deferred prosecution agreements on charges of resisting an officer without violence
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three more defendants who were arrested at an April 29 pro-Palestinian protest on the UF campus have accepted deferred prosecution agreements. The first two defendants entered into deferred prosecution agreements last week.
Augustino Pulliam
Augustino Matthias Pulliam, 20, was arrested by a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Trooper after allegedly failing to obey an order to disperse and was charged with failure to obey an officer and resisting an officer without violence, both misdemeanors. On June 10, he was formally charged with resisting an officer without violence.
On September 9, Pulliam entered into a pre-trial diversion agreement in which he agreed to refrain from violating any law for six months, pay $150 for the cost of prosecution, and donate $150 to Created Gainesville or perform 12 hours of community service. According to the agreement, if he complies with these conditions for six months, the charges will be dismissed.
Allison Rooney
Allison Marie Rooney, 23, was arrested by FHP for allegedly failing to obey a command from a University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) officer to disperse; she was also allegedly covering her face and concealing her identity. She was charged with failure to obey an officer, wearing a mask on public property, and resisting an officer without violence, all misdemeanors. On June 10, she was formally charged with resisting an officer without violence.
On September 9, Rooney entered into a pre-trial diversion agreement in which she agreed to refrain from violating any law for six months, pay $150 for the cost of prosecution, and donate $150 to Peaceful Paths or perform 12 hours of community service. According to the agreement, if she complies with these conditions for six months, the charges will be dismissed.
Tess Segal
Tess Jaden Segal, 20, was arrested by FHP for allegedly failing to obey a command from UFPD to disperse. She was charged with failure to obey an officer and wearing a mask on public property, both misdemeanors. On June 7, she was formally charged with resisting an officer without violence.
On September 9, Segal entered into a pre-trial diversion agreement in which she agreed to refrain from violating any law for six months, pay $150 for the cost of prosecution, and donate $150 to Peaceful Paths or perform 12 hours of community service. According to the agreement, if she complies with these conditions for six months, the charges will be dismissed.
The remaining cases
The four remaining cases are still working their way through the court system, but Charly Pringle, 21, is currently in the Alachua County Jail after being arrested on August 30 for violating a trespassing order on the UF campus. She is also facing a separate sworn complaint for trespassing and petit theft, but the sworn complaint document has not been posted to the court system.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This is BS. Refrain from breaking any laws for 6 months? 6 months? How about forever. They should NOT drop the cases. So now they will have a clear record to do do more crime. No punishment. Typical libtard crap.
Who let these misfits out of the clockwork orange mental asylum?
All this trash think alike.. blue voters, I guess
I’m on board with light (but still significant) sentences as long as they agree to regularly use accutane and be reproductively sterilized.
Nothing happening with Israel and their neighbors is unique to them. They are not committing “apartheid” any more than other countries do.
The real reason Antifa and Queer activists united with Hamas supporters is their grief over the loss of another Marxist utopia, one pretending to be Islamic. Nothing religious is about Hamas and Iran’s proxies. They use religion as a veneer over a Commie Uniparty agenda…much like Dem cities here do.
ACLUSPLCDNC 👺👹🤡💩👿
Wearing a mask shouldn’t be a crime when you look like she does.
The penalty for committing a crime with a mask on should be multiplied!
If their cause was true, why cover your face?
This is total BS.
When law enforcement tells you to disperse, leave!
Desantis & Tallahassee needs to mandate that any crime committed with a mask be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
When Trump wins the election, the rioting, looting, antifa needs to be arrested , spend time in prison to learn their lesson, and have to pay restitution for their damage.
Yes, if it’s a misdemeanor and wear a mask, it should be upgraded to a felony. They were wearing face masks to avoid being identified.
Judging from their mugshots (yeah I know it is profiling) I would venture to say none of them could accurately describe the political background of either the Jewish/Palestinian history, or even the cause of the current conflict.
This is a travesty of the law. There was no physical resistance and from the pictures I’ve seen, the “masks” were medical masks that I and many others wear in close quarters due to Covid – that is still the recommended behavior depending on how many cases are occurring (very high right now). WTF are there charges for that? (see picture linked below) As bad as this continuing prosecution and fines is, UF’s draconian penalties (3-4 year bans which seriously impacts the education of several of the young and accomplished defendants) which were placed by the Dean (a new appointee with degrees from the equivalent of Trump University) and overruled the already rational punishment by the UF’s regular procedures.
The police and UF overreacted to satisfy the political posturing of Sasse ( he went on Fox news) and DeSantis of being tough guys. Yeah, when they have the apparatus of the state behind them. This isn’t “freedom”, it’s the weaponization of state power to promote the posturing and political goals of our low life bully of a governor and now disgraced rip-off artist and former UF president.
If you support this outrage, your not for freedom and you’re applauding actual fascism. It doesn’t matter if you disagree with protesters on this issue – and I do. They are Americans and have the right to free speech and freedom from cruel and unusual punishment.

Jazz, are you gonna move out of the country to Gaza when Trump gets elected in this great democracy?
I bet you were bullied as a kid in grade school for always being an 🫏.
Sure, they were wearing the masks because of Covid….You’re nuts.
I knew you were a mask wearer!
😷
Please get your flu shot & c19 booster so I don’t get sick from you Typhoid Mary’s…
Its safe to say none of these people wore a mask when they marched downtown for BLM during the height of the covid.
Thanks for your agreement with me on the facts and the principles of this case. Your complete absence of a rational argument otherwise speaks volumes.
It was fascism mandating shots, masks, & social distancing.
My body my choice! That’s freedom ‼️
You and your big lie Covid! Oh! People are dieing!
They should have stayed home and been super heroes if they were worried about the BS flu!
Shove your Hitler great commi fascist reset and your fascist commie greater good where the sun don’t shine Satan!
Thanks for your agreement with me on the facts and the principles of this case. Your complete absence of a rational argument otherwise speaks volumes.
Why don’t you hire a top attorney for all of them? Robert Rush might give you a group discount. Like all good Dems, you have to go to the bathroom when it’s time for the collection plate to be passed around.
Thanks for your agreement with me on the facts and the principles of this case. Your complete absence of a rational argument otherwise speaks volumes.
The statute is below. Because there is a lot of extraneous text in the middle, I’m going to simplify it for you:
Whoever shall resist, obstruct, or oppose any officer without offering or doing violence to the person of the officer, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree
No physical resistance is required. You have to do what an officer says. If the officer is wrong, you can take it up in court later. That’s how our system works.
843.02 Resisting officer without violence to his or her person.—Whoever shall resist, obstruct, or oppose any officer as defined in s. 943.10(1), (2), (3), (6), (7), (8), or (9); member of the Florida Commission on Offender Review or any administrative aide or supervisor employed by the commission; county probation officer; parole and probation supervisor; personnel or representative of the Department of Law Enforcement; or other person legally authorized to execute process in the execution of legal process or in the lawful execution of any legal duty, without offering or doing violence to the person of the officer, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
Let’s see the body cam footage.
The issue isn’t – though it may be depending on that footage – whether there should have been arrests, but the star chamber extreme and unusual punishment the UF dean placed on students, at least 2 of which were accomplished in biology and engineering. This was after the usual procedure had been followed and a reasonable punishment applied – something like a month or 2 banishment from campus. 3 years can kill these students academic careers and impact them – and society which could benefit from them – for the rest of their lives. That is BS for a misdemeanor offense, if one even occurred. We have no reason trust these idiots who gave us Sasse and Ladipo.
The country is full of universities that will gladly take their transfer papers. They just need pick a school that’s unwilling to stand up to the antisemitic mob these kids feel the need to support.
Rooney looks like a real koo koo looney with that red & green hair.
Tess got the krazy eyes.
The guy got guilty eyes…
Sure, you can judge a book by its cover!
The book 📕 should have been thrown at these A-holes.
They should be banned from UF campus for life!
Ship the damn Nazis to Gaza
Serial protesters in desperate need of attention.
These comments are awful. So nasty, mean spirited and a poor reflection of people.
Seek help. You don’t have to live in such suffering.
Yeah Dr.Phil,
These protester people are pathetic and the judicial system needs to protect the public from their masked BS.
When Caesar says move, you move…
this collective misfit trash are the kind that put Jesus on the cross…
The mask wearers don’t believe in god or Jesus or the nuclear family…they just believe in their collective communism.
They use fear and intimidation to get their way.
Freedom & individual rights before
Communism !
God bless our inalienable rights!
My body , my choice!
Down with the VAX passport mark of the beast!
No one world government prison planet!
Mother Nature can take care of herself…
such hubris to think that man can control the weather with CO2 regulation .
The devil is hiding behind the environment using fear to control the lefty idiots with climate change. Great reset is Satan’s plan.
Yeah, it’s my body my choice unless a woman wants autonomy over her own body
By the way, did you not take your meds today???
That’s right. The dems are commi hypocrites because my body my choice did not apply to those C19 clot shots and those masks…
Liker your kid going to our schools, no shot, no service. Stay home snowflake.
“When Caesar says move, you move…”
Not in America. Where are you from?
They’re fascists who probably endorse the traitor Trump who tried to overthrow the last election. Should we expect otherwise?
Kamala is probably already on her way to pay their fines.
Yes, I intend to pay their fines as I did in Minneapolis during the summer of 2020 when our BLM brethren burned 1200 buildings while the wife of gov walz smelled the burning tires.
In sum, of the 14 RCTs that have tested the effectiveness of masks in preventing the transmission of respiratory viruses, three suggest, but do not provide any statistically significant evidence in intention-to-treat analysis, that masks might be useful. The other eleven suggest that masks are either useless — whether compared with no masks or because they appear not to add to good hand hygiene alone — or actually counterproductive.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/2626978/do-masks-actually-work-the-best-studies-suggest-they-dont/
Thanks for that 2021 article by the Hillsdale College grad in the extreme right wing Washington Examiner. Here is more recent and factual information (as if anyone needed proof that face masks help depress transmission of contagious airborne disease) by actual scientists, not right wing columnists:
“…we conclude that wearing masks, wearing higher quality masks (respirators), and mask mandates generally reduced SARS-CoV-2 transmission in these study populations.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10446908/
For those still struggling with this apparently difficult to understand – to them – concept (probably all mouth breathers), which is as obvious to most humans as “wheels make things move fast”, here’s more on how it works:
“How it works
Generally, masks can help act as a filter to reduce the number of germs you breathe in or out. Their effectiveness can vary against different viruses, for example, based on the size of the virus. When worn by a person who has a virus, masks can reduce the chances they spread it to others. Masks can also protect wearers from inhaling germs; this type of protection typically comes from better fitting masks (for example, N95 or KN95 respirators).”
https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/masks.html
This info has no sustainable merit.
A sit in, on campus, no resisting arrest. “Failure to disperse.” “Wearing a mask over her mouth.”
All you folks always claiming to love the constitution and the 1st amendment.. Until you don’t like what cause a college kid was standing up (or in this case, sitting down) to defend.
Shame on the UFPD.
These are better outcomes, but UF has still trespassed the students from campus.
Yes, it is an outrage against the supposed “freedom” our Governor and his magpies here claim as their touchstone. That’s a bad joke.
