NEWBERRY, Fla. – Belsar Francisco Cruz Vicente, 28, was arrested early this morning after he allegedly hit another vehicle head-on in Newberry and then fled on foot.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call at about 8:45 p.m. last night about a vehicle swerving all over the road and then hitting another vehicle head-on in the area of 1800 SW SR 45 in Newberry. The driver of the vehicle that had been swerving fled from the scene of the crash on foot; a witness chased him west on SW 15th Avenue but lost sight of him.
At about 10 p.m., deputies saw Cruz Vicente walking in the 25900 block of W. Newberry Road but lost sight of him. At about 10:30 p.m., Cruz Vicente was located by deputies in the 25900 block of SW 1st Avenue in Newberry. In a search incident to arrest, deputies reportedly found a baggie with 0.3 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine.
Cruz Vicente was reportedly positively identified as the drive of the vehicle in the crash and confirmed to be the registered owner of that vehicle.
Cruz Vicente also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear at a hearing on a case in which he was charged with driving without a valid license. He has a federal criminal history.
Cruz Vicente has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and cocaine possession. He is being held on $15,000 bail on those charges and on $2,000 bail on the failure to appear charge.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
I’m wondering about his federal criminal history…
🤔
What did he do???
And how long has he been part of the community in Trenton?
And it’s $17,000 bail what a perfectly home grown white guy would have to pay to get out of jail for fleeing from a likely DUI crash that could have killed someone???
This is Alachua county. He’ll get a slap on the wrist. If he was a homegrown white boy he would fry.
He’s probably here illegally and came over the southern border.
Can the judge send him back to Mexico?
We have had a rash of hit and runs all across and nation since Obama and now Bidens open border and utter disrepsect for Law and Order. On a local level Portland wanna be Bozo Poezo has declare Gainesville a sanctuary city. What’s this lawbreakers immigration status?
No drivers licence. No insurance. Drugs and previous criminal record. Why not have an open border so they can come here and put legal drivers in jeopardy. Hope you don’t get hit by one of these cause there ain’t no money for the lawyers to go after.
But did he have a valid DL and insurance? Hmmm maybe send him to Martha’s Vineyard instead?
