Press release from Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Kim Barton
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office is monitoring the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone Four.
The early voting period for the 2024 Primary Election will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 5 at 9 a.m. From August 5 to August 17, all registered voters in Alachua County will be able to vote early at any of the county’s eight early voting locations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Please visit VoteAlachua.gov or our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/VoteAlachua/) to stay informed about any updates or changes.
Below you will find information about casting your ballot during the early voting period.
Florida is a closed primary election state, meaning that only voters registered with a political party can vote for that party’s candidates in partisan races. The deadline to update party affiliation for this election was July 22.
However, there is something on the ballot for everyone.
All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote on issues and nonpartisan races.
Additionally, during the early voting period, voters will be able to deliver their completed vote-by-mail ballot to any of the secure ballot intake stations located outside of each early voting site. The secure ballot intake stations will be available during early voting hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and will be continuously monitored by trained secure ballot intake station attendants.
Early voting ends on Saturday, August 17. Voters can still return their vote-by-mail ballot on Sunday, August 18 and on Monday, August 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to the secure ballot intake station located only at the Supervisor of Elections Office. On Election Day (August 20), the secure ballot intake station will be available only at the Supervisor of Elections Office from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
