Two 18-year-olds, one juvenile arrested for home invasion robbery and false imprisonment of 16-year-old girl

Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dakota O’Brien Richardson, 18, and Jamarien Leon Ross, 18, were arrested along with Kevin James Williams Jr., 17, on charges related to a February 18 armed robbery; during the robbery, they allegedly sent a 16-year-old girl to the bathroom at gunpoint while they selected items to steal.
At about 12:10 p.m. on February 18, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call about a home invasion robbery in the 100 block of SE 43rd Street. A 16-year-old female victim told deputies that she looked outside the house and saw Williams with an unknown male, later identified as Ross.
Ross allegedly entered through a rear sliding glass door with a handgun and told the victim to get in the bathroom at gunpoint. She went into the bathroom, and he allegedly shut her inside. She reportedly said she heard the two suspects talking and rummaging through items in a bedroom.
A second resident of the home arrived shortly after the two suspects left, and he said a PlayStation 5, over 20 grams of marijuana, about $4,000 in cash, and a backpack were stolen.
Deputies reportedly arrested Williams at the nearby Sunoco station as he fled the area on foot. Williams reportedly had all the stolen property with him. Post Miranda, Williams reportedly confessed to his participation in the incident and identified Ross; he reportedly said they had planned the burglary because they believed nobody was home. When they saw someone was home, Williams said, he told Ross to leave, but Ross decided to continue with the burglary.
Deputies reviewed surveillance video from the Sunoco and reportedly saw Williams interacting with Richardson there while marked patrol cars passed by with lights and sirens on. Richardson could reportedly be seen on the sidewalk as a patrol car passed, then he jogged back to the Sunoco and stopped directly in front of a camera to pull out a firearm that had apparently slipped down his leg as he jogged. He reportedly placed the firearm in his waistband, and several other cameras reportedly showed him holding an object in his waistband.
Richardson and Williams could reportedly be seen jumping the fence to a secure area behind the Sunoco, where Williams made a phone call on Richardson’s phone (the report notes that Williams told deputies he believed he had left his phone behind at the victims’ house, but the phone was later found in the backpack). When Williams left the area of the Sunoco, he was captured by deputies; Richardson was reportedly seen on surveillance video, heading back through the woods.
After a search warrant was obtained for Williams’ phone, deputies reportedly found that there were several missed calls from Ross. Videos on Williams’ phone also reportedly show Richardson wearing the same jacket shown on the Sunoco’s cameras; Richardson is also reportedly wearing the same jacket in his contact picture on Williams’ phone.
Ross was arrested on February 28 and reportedly confessed, stating that he, Williams, and Richardson met before the burglary; he said Richardson stayed at the back of the property as a “lookout” while he and Williams went inside. He said he tried to call Williams several times, but he didn’t answer; he said Williams called him on Richardson’s phone.
Richardson has been charged with home invasion robbery with a firearm, false imprisonment, and accessory after the fact to a felony. He has no adult criminal convictions; Judge Phillip Pena set bail at $100,000.
Ross has been charged with home invasion robbery with a firearm and false imprisonment. He has a juvenile criminal history, and he is on probation for illegally carrying a concealed firearm. Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $550,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Jaworski is getting the bail as it should be.
With so many degreed social/psychology experts here, they should be studied. Report back to us on what went wrong… 🤡👹
10 year minimum mandatory for armed robbery. Now the best years of their lives will be spent in prison. All for $4k & some weed. Plus these 2 will be known snitches during that time. Hope it was worth it for them.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
This article is a very fine example of my theory on the parents in the ghettos, collecting food stamps, and collecting HUD housing assistance, etc, probably on crack or meth, who just always tells the kids to go out and play.
It’s almost like the State, County & City assistance programs ” have a need to perpetuate kaos”.
Therefore resulting in the continuation of robbery, burglary, and gun violence.
These assistant programs are in fact “inherently promoting a lack of work ethic and/or responsibility” for the younger generation of kids.
Thereby, the “economy or landscape” of the States Judicial System, will always be in disarray because of the criminal case loads.
Ultimately culminating in both, a shortage of ALL positions of sworn law enforcement officers State wide, to overcrowded jails and prisons State wide.
This run away freight train has left the station a long time ago, on a one way track……
Johnny cash you are spot on. Denial by Mom’s, forget a Dad, refusing to take responsibility for their offspring, while looking in the mailbox for their next government check. White politicians caused this crisis in the black community. Go ahead you pathetic Karen’s out there and downvote my comments. Read Dr Thomas Sowell’s research on this. He’s a very intelligent black scholar and covers this tragedy very well.
You forgot the word Democrat before politicians. There is also the black contingent, lead by people like Hayes-Hinson and Evelyn Foxx.
Didn’t you hear it takes a village to raise kids? That’s the result.
Good summary. What ever happened to black fathers (and mothers) caring, providing for, and training them to become responsible adults? Instead we have a welfare state that the Dems are always crying for more $$$ to support this nonsense.
Richardsons mom is his problem have to many kids no time for them just wait more is to follow
How do u know it’s his mom’s fault. What if she did everything she could but he still choose to go down this path. I think it’s society’s fault cause everyone thinks stuff like this is normal when in truth is not and yet it’s happening almost everyday. Its the kind of world that kids are forced to grow up in. And y’all expect them not to act this way. His mom/dad or anyone could have raised him in any way but the world made him into what he is. Don’t blame people’s parents for there kids mistakes. He’s 18 which means he is legally grown and apparently it’s his first crime so his mom must have been doing something right.
You need to mind your business just read the article and keep it moving messy Betty
I bet he’ll get affiliated with the 4k gang in prison.
Same old same old, different day.
Sounds like they robbed a drug dealer…doesn’t elicit much sympathy here.
I wonder how these guys selected that home for robbery? I also wonder if the $4000 involved was tested for drug residue?
