Two adults and two children transported to the hospital following two-car accident in Earleton area

This morning at 8:32 a.m., multiple units from Alachua County and Melrose Fire Departments were dispatched to SR 26 and NE CR 1469 in the Earleton area of northeast Alachua County to a two-vehicle collision. 

An adult female had to be removed from one of the vehicles with the “Jaws of Life.” Traffic had to be diverted until the vehicles could be removed from the roadway. Two adults, one male and one female, and two children were transported to UF Health Shands. 

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to always buckle up. Seat Belts Save Lives.

  • I live in Earleton, and I use this intersection a lot. West of this intersection there is a hill that can hide oncoming traffic and is dangerous if you’re turning eastward onto 26. I don’t know if one of the cars involved was heading east and not visible until too late but I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • Agree…this intersection is Very dangerous. My son was involved in a wreck same spot…..son alive….but other driver dead . Need better safety added to area.
