GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brennan Lenzie Marshall-Darnall, 26, and Markis Divon Williams, 44, were arrested early this morning in connection with a sexual battery investigation.
The two men were arrested following Alachua County Sheriff’s Office surveillance at the Econo Lodge on SW 13th Street in connection with an armed sexual battery. The sexual battery was reported on Sunday at 5:20 p.m. Marshall-Darnall was seen getting into his car with a second man, and they were later stopped and detained.
Marshall-Darnall has been charged with sexual battery with a deadly weapon or force and with false imprisonment. He is being held on $375,000 bail.
Deputies were not initially able to identify Williams, who provided the name “Derrick A. Williams.” After deputies ran the name through a law enforcement database and determined he was not Derrick, they asked Williams again, and he reportedly provided his real name. Deputies determined that he had an active warrant for failure to appear in a criminal mischief case for allegedly breaking a window on September 5, 2021.
Williams was arrested on the warrant and also charged with providing false identification to law enforcement. He has four felony drug convictions and is being held without bail for failure to appear and on $2,500 bail on the new charge.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
