Two transported to hospital after crash on 441

MICANOPY, Fla. – At 8:50 a.m. this morning, units from Alachua County Fire-Rescue and Micanopy Fire Rescue responded to a two-vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of US Highway 441 in the area of the overlook. First-arriving units found a two-vehicle accident with one driver heavily entrapped.Â
Units utilized hydraulic rescue tools, commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life, to free the driver from the heavily damaged vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to local hospitals for evaluation. The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Â
Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind drivers to move over and slow down for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the roadway.
