Two transported to the hospital after three-vehicle accident north of Hawthorne
Staff report from Alachua County Fire Rescue release
HAWTHORNE, Fla. – At about 6:52 p.m. on December 27, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) and the Windsor Fire Department were dispatched to a reported vehicle accident with entrapment on U.S. Hwy 301 and CR 1474, north of Hawthorne.
Upon arrival, units found a three-vehicle accident with one vehicle overturned in the ditch; the driver of that vehicle was entrapped, but crews extricated the patient within five minutes.
Two of the three patients were transported to Shands UF Trauma Center. The accident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and we will update this article if FHP sends out a release with more information.
ACFR would like to remind everyone to slow down and always wear your seat belt.Â
I was the first bystander to reach the man trapped in the car. I held his hand until the EMS arrived and used the jaws of life to cut him out. A couple from the other car went to the hospital as well. I pray they are all okay. Please update this story with their conditions when you know more.
We don’t get updates on conditions after a patient is admitted to the hospital (HIPAA), but if FHP releases their conditions immediately after the accident, I’ll update the article.

So deeply sorry for your loss Mike. We also stopped on the side of the road right after the accident before the medics and police arrived. Is there a gofundme or any way we can contribute to funeral expenses?
Currently waiting to see what his wife would like to do . It’s greatly appreciated and thank you for stopping to stay.
