UF Healthstreet aims to improve community health through dancing

Press release from UF Healthstreet
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Through the fifth annual Night of Dance 2022, UF HealthStreet wants to share with community members ways to improve health; whether it’s health screenings, health education, or information on local resources. Interactive dance and fitness performances will engage attendees in communal, fun movement. Through community partnerships, we hope this event can serve 500+ individuals from Gainesville and surrounding rural counties.
UF HealthStreet is partnering with local agencies including Trader Joe’s, YouFit, Alachua County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) center, Elder Options, WellFlorida Council, and more to provide a comprehensive community health experience for attendees. COVID vaccinations will be offered. Arepa Burger and Swamp Religion will be present.
UF HealthStreet is a community engagement program at the University of Florida (UF) with a mission to improve the health of our community by bridging gaps in healthcare and health research. The fifth annual Night of Dance is an extension of what we do every day– going out into the community and meeting community members where they are as they discuss their health needs and concerns.
Night of Dance 2022 will take place on October 1st from 4 pm – 6 pm. The location is Bo Diddley Plaza, 111 E University Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601. The event is completely free and open to all.
How wonderful. Dancing is health for all. I look forward to shaken it up at 85y.o.
Good thing this ‘street’ event takes place early in the evening, otherwise, I would have to get to the parking garage early so I can establish my defensive perimeter.
