UF student arrested for aggravated stalking after multiple alleged antisemitic threats

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joonho Jun, 21, was arrested yesterday and charged with aggravated stalking after a UF student told police that Jun had been threatening him and sending him antisemitic messages for several years but had escalated to following him and pretending to shoot him in recent days.

The victim told a Gainesville Police Department that he and a witness were inside the Wawa across from campus (1614 W. University Ave.) at about 2 a.m. on February 22 when Jun walked up, made antisemitic statements, and used his hand to pantomime shooting the victim. The victim said he and the witness left the store and were walking eastbound on W. University Avenue when Jun came running up near the intersection with 13th Street and again acted out shooting the victim with his hand.

The next day, the victim and witness reportedly saw that Jun’s account had tagged the victim in several antisemitic Instagram posts that referenced Jews and included statements such as, “Let’s teach this [expletive] a lesson.” “Imma torture this [expletive] in hell,” and “you pissed off a royal bloodline im gonna [expletive] torture you eternally if you don’t apologize and bend before me.” Another post that tagged the victim reportedly showed part of Jun’s face with “oopsies look like u pissed off a mason! Watch ur back my army watches.” Similar threats were reportedly repeated in a direct message to the victim.

The victim told the officer that Jun had previously found him and pretended to shoot him and had been making antisemitic statements since he met him three years ago, in his freshman year.

The victim said he feared for his safety and believed Jun would soon follow through with physical violence because of the escalation in recent days.

Jun has no criminal history. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial. She also ordered that if he is released, he is to have no contact with the victim, the witness, or the Lubavitch Chabad Jewish Center; he can possess no firearms; he must be fitted with a GPS monitoring device; and he is prohibited from using the internet.

According to the arrest report, Joonho was born in South Korea but is an American citizen.

    • Didn’t you read the article? You just pissed off a royal bloodline! Go back to hickville and kiss this man’s toes, you stupid cracker 😂

        • That guy’s a lunatic but I only throw around that jest if a (presumable) white guy appears casually racist.

Saying “herro prease” just seemed like a cracker thing to do.

I am sorry to offend you, man. I forgot it’s still a serious insult to some people.

  • OMG WTF do college libs like identity-grouping everybody? It’s so telling how after a few years in college, the suspect became MORE deranged and threatening… what does the ACLUSPLCDNC have to say about that happening at UF and nationwide?
    🤡👺💩👹👿

  • Yes, the guy is an obvious deranged bigot but what exactly is the crime? Held without bond for pointing a finger gun and running his mouth?

We’re in a world of trouble

    Wake up folks!

  • Wonder what the “victim” did to this guy. Doesn’t excuse his behavior at all but someone definitely pissed him off.

    • Nope. He harassed me, I did nothing. I’m a mom of a student. I was just sitting in Paris Bahn Mi eating lunch

    • People are absolutely harassed simply because they look Jewish. He was probably wearing a yarmulke, a Jewish head covering.

    • His victim was publicly Jewish. That seems to be a crime to many “be kind” tolerant “anti-racist” liberals these days.

    • The “victim” was Jewish. If there was another grievance The perp never voiced it.
Funny that the perp doesn’t claim a grievance other than the person’s Jewish, but you’re jumping to his defense

      • I think he called him homosexual or something I’m not sure I need to read the arrest report again.

      • I think he called him homosexual or something I’m not sure I need to read the arrest report again.

  • How shameful, antisemitism in Gainesville? While one knows that there probably are people who hate others simply because of their religion, I’m still stunned to see it here. Blessings on this Jewish student who had to endure this.

  • He’s a clown but harmless. He got kicked from a frat and blamed some jewish members who kicked him out and sent him hate, apparently. He’s always on univ ave and midtown. Probably the next Dennis of Gainesville once he gets older.

  • Harmless until one day he isn’t. Seems like this steaming pile of sh was getting bolder and more aggressive with his rhetoric and threats. FAFO. Actions have consequences.

  • Bro lived at Theory. I always saw him following girls around the gym. Never liked the guy.

  • This guy is a legend on campus. Kicked out of a frat, vaping everywhere, blasting music at the gym, and posting his kung fu training.
