UFPD arrests teen for bomb threat against P.K. Yonge

Press release from the University of Florida Police Department
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 13-year-old P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School student has been arrested by University of Florida Police for a social media post that was perceived as a bomb threat to the school.
The student was arrested late Thursday and charged with one count of written threat to kill or injure, which is a felony charge in Florida. He also faces one count of false report about planting a bomb or explosive device and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device. UFPD is withholding his name because he is being charged as a minor.
The teen posted a message threatening to “bomb the school” on social media Thursday evening. It was seen by several peers who immediately reported it to the school. UFPD officers and investigators acted swiftly with P.K. Yonge administrators to identify the author of the post and the motive.
The student who posted the threat later told UFPD officers that there was no intent to harm anyone at the school, and he had not considered how people would react to the perceived threat.
The 13-year-old was taken to the Alachua Regional Juvenile Detention Center on the charges listed above.
UFPD Chief Bart Knowles would like to thank those involved for swiftly reporting this incident to ensure the safety and security of the school.
Well, well, well. . .
What can we say to parents when “the shoe is on the other foot”????
Let us look at our society as a whole, PLEASE!!!!!!
Hmm?
Is this a race comment? If so, P.K. has all races as students.
I don’t think there is a name, or race, mentioned in this initial report.
Maybe you know more? Or just guessing?
When was the last time any school was “bombed”? Has it EVER happened? It always sounds like little kids taking nonsense.
A couple of students blew a crater in the bridge across Tumblin’ Creek on the PKY campus around 1985. Flying debris broke windows as well. I believe they used dynamite.
The shooters at Columbine HS (which was where all the school shootings started) had bombs with them. They never got the chance to use them.
Put his name out there! He
Deserves it! Again this stuff starts at home, With NO DISCIPLINE!😢
This is why my 14 &12 year old grandkids do not have a social media account. These kids don’t realize the consequences of their impulsive, histrionic actions. Parents and teachers need to address this with the middle school age kids. IMO, it is the parents responsibility but teachers can have a great influence too.
Stupid decision.
Guess it’s a good thing he won’t be allowed to make stupid ballot decisions.
The parents should face stiff fines and mandatory 200hrs community service for the damage they cause to society with their horrible parenting.
You know, it is not required that you all spout off opinions on everything, including those for which you have no clue.
You should follow your own advice Jazzhole.
I try Sh..man but you call me out when I speculate like I was a relative about something like this incident.
