UFPD mourns the loss of officer to cancer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Florida Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Ricky Morgan after a battle with cancer.
According to the Alachua 10-42 Facebook page, Morgan joined the department in 2013. During his time at the agency, he served as a Field Training Officer and an explosives K-9 handler with his canine partner Apollo.
Morgan was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, was forced into a limited-duty capacity in late 2022, and medically retired in July 2023.
Proceeds from sales of a UFPD K-9 coin will go toward expenses for Officer Morgan’s family.
This is so sad. I’m so sorry for the Morgan family. No words can take away this pain. God watch over his wife and children to find courage in this difficult season.
