Upcoming school district recruiting events include a chance to test drive a school bus and apply for a food services job

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County Public Schools will be holding two recruiting events this week, one of which will give local citizens an opportunity to test drive a school bus.

The district will be holding a job fair for anyone interested in becoming a member of its award-winning food and nutrition services staff on November 30 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the District Office at 620 E. University Ave. Participants will be interviewed on-site and will receive help in filling out their applications, and eligible applicants will be hired on the spot. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.

On Saturday, December 3, from 10 a.m. to noon, anyone with a valid driver’s license interested in becoming a school bus driver will have a chance to test drive one of the district’s newest buses under the guidance of a certified trainer/examiner. The event will also include music, refreshments, and giveaways. District staff will also be available to help with applications and to offer jobs at the event, which will be held at the Traffic Safety Center located at 3501 NE 12th Street in Gainesville.
