Photos: Valdosta man arrested for DUI after accident closes I-75 lanes for several hours

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – A Valdosta man suffered minor injuries and was arrested for driving under the influence after the semi truck he was driving overturned and hit a box truck traveling in the opposite direction.

At about 8:40 a.m. this morning, a semi truck driven by a 42-year-old Valdosta, Georgia, man was traveling southbound on I-75 when it traveled off the roadway at about mile marker 403 and went through the guardrail before overturning in the median; the trailer entered the northbound lanes and collided with a box truck driven by a 24-year-old Plant City man.

The driver of the semi truck and his passenger, a 22-year-old Valdosta man, were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The driver of the box truck did not sustain any injuries. The two inside lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions were closed for several hours.

The driver of the semi truck was arrested for DUI and transported to the Alachua County jail.
