Vermont woman arrested for attacking airport security guard

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mercedes Olimpia Ochoa-Gonzales, 42, was arrested last night and charged with battery on an airport security guard, resisting a law enforcement officer with violence, and resisting arrest without violence at the Gainesville Regional Airport.

At about 8:20 p.m. last night, Ochoa-Gonzales was reportedly asked multiple times to leave the airport property and stop asking people for money. A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to conduct a trespass investigation, and when he made contact with Ochoa-Gonzales, she reportedly became hostile and began yelling.

Ochoa-Gonzales then reportedly walked into the roadway, and the officer asked her to get out of the roadway so she would not be hit by passing cars; she refused and reportedly said she could do what she wanted. She then reportedly began walking towards approaching cars. The officer again told her to get out of the road, but she again refused, and the officer walked over to her.

Ochoa-Gonzales allegedly resisted the officer’s attempt to escort her out of the road and began kicking him; she also pulled away and punched the officer. The officer tried to place her on a nearby bench to handcuff her, and she allegedly bit him in the arm, breaking the skin. A security guard offered to assist the officer, and Ochoa-Gonzales also allegedly bit him in the arm, breaking the skin.

Ochoa-Gonzales’ address is listed as Vermont, and she has reportedly been in the area for only one day; the officer identified her by her Department of Homeland Security paperwork. Court documents indicate that she was previously deported in 2019. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $31,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Yep, the city has become hospitable for vagrants and criminals. This is only going to get worse.

  • WTF? I thought Vermont was Bernie’s utopia with free Ben & Jerry’s for all?! Oh wait, the DNC stole Bernie’s 2016 nomination for Hillary, then worked to sabotage Trump in the media another four years, then duped brain oxygen-depleted Brandon voters with masks to bundle their ballots for the long delayed Ukraine war plans.
There must be a direct line from Vermont to GRACE, too.

      • You can find plenty of photos of Biden groping kids and sniffing their hair. But please, keep repeating that old Trump chestnut.

  • Put her in front of the city commission. They would let her go, apologize profusely, and start giving her $1000 a month.

  • Typical liberal, thinks she can do what she wants, where she wants, when she wants.

Panhandling at the airport. She was close enough, should have put her ass on a plane and dropped her on Biden’s doorstep.

  • Thanks Joe…… you keep giving the gift that keeps giving. We want to re-gift it back.

  • Hopefully she will be prosecuted by the feds…thanks Grace Marketplace (right across the street from the airport)! 😫

    • I’ve been wondering about the airport and GRACE.

I’m going to become a full-time resident of Alachua county in the next year or so. I frequently travel for business, so I’ll be flying in and out of GNV.

What’s the crime situation with long term parking at the airport, with Bum Heaven right there?
