Veterans Day message from Mayor Ward

Press release from City of Gainesville

I hope you will join me in taking time to observe Veterans Day, and salute the legacy of those who have served in our armed forces. It is a day to recognize those who have answered our nation’s call. It is a day to remember the courage of those willing to stand at the ready, regardless of challenge, risk, or personal cost. We owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

Today we also reflect on the independence, diversity, unity, and liberty that we enjoy—because of veterans who fought to protect our nation’s values and ideals.

Thank you is not enough. On this Veterans Day and every day, let us never forget to honor those who served.

  • He had to stick that last part in, “Diversity”. Just be quite and go eat a jelly doughnut.

  • Those ideals and values are referred to as Rights. Rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and it’s accompanying Bill of Rights.
Veterans have fought for it, protected it, been wounded, and died for it. We owe a lot to them.

No one, or party, in this country should have unencumbered power and authority to circumvent those rights.

  • He’s literally a poor version of King George III. All taxation and no representation.
