VIDEO: Newberry City Commission candidate charged with battery after candidate forum

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Brandy Oldman, a candidate for the Newberry City Commission, will be charged with simple battery after she allegedly knocked a woman’s phone from her hand, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
After a candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters on Sunday, March 29, a video shows Oldman getting into an argument with a woman who attended the forum and then walking away, saying, “I know where you live. I know where you live.” Then she walks back toward the woman and yells at her before the woman’s phone flies through the air. The phone flies through the air a second time before the video ends.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Office told Alachua Chronicle that Oldman will be charged with simple battery by sworn complaint. The sworn complaint will be sent to the State Attorney’s Office, where a determination will be made about whether to prosecute Oldman.

This isn’t some Jerry Springer show. You small towns like to present as quaint Mayberry’s but the reality is that you demonstrate that you are not sophisticated or level headed enough to run a budget or a public meeting but you’re sure good at running your mouths. Great role models for the children.
For a real treat you should watch the alachua county school board meetings. Despite being on the board what seems like forever, one former chair couldn’t ever get through a simple meeting without being corrected by the attorney on standard public meeting procedures.

If she is eventually charged with robbery by sudden snatching which is what occurred. She knocked the phone out of owners hand and threw it. Video pretty much captures that. But if charged and convicted of battery and robbery she can kiss any weak chance of political life. Also her campaign donations have limitations on out of district donors.
