Vision for cultural arts center focus of upcoming community engagement session

Press release from the City of Gainesville
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department invites all neighbors to attend a community workshop this month to help shape the vision of a cultural arts center in East Gainesville.
When:Â 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 31
Where: The City’s Historic Thomas Center, 302 NE 6th Ave.
The upcoming workshop is designed to hear from neighbors about their needs, interests, and expectations regarding a cultural arts center. The input will provide vital information in a study by AMS Planning & Research Corp., a national arts management consulting firm hired by the City. The AMS study will help determine the feasibility of either creating a new cultural arts center or renovating an existing structure in Gainesville.
This will work. A new million dollar project for a city that needs to cut millions from their budget. The overpaid charter officers have already responded to requests for budget cuts by demanding more money for next year. What’s next, Ward?
