Waldo man charged with breaking windows with nail-studded club
Staff report
WALDO, Fla. – James Rodney Amburgey, 59, was arrested yesterday for allegedly breaking a vehicle window and then throwing a nail-studded club through the window of a home, breaking the window.
At about 9:51 a.m. on February 28, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a home in Waldo and reported that a vehicle had a broken rear window and broken right-side mirror; there was also broken glass on the front porch of the home and a broken front window. The deputy reported that there was more glass inside the home, along with a 15-inch wooden club with nails protruding from one end.
The victim provided security video of the incident, and Amburgey was identified as the person who had broken the windows.
Deputies located Amburgey and detained him; post Miranda, Amburgey reportedly denied knowing anything about the incident and denied breaking any windows or throwing the club.
Amburgey has been charged with throwing a missile into a dwelling and misdemeanor property damage. He was previously arrested for felony property damage after hitting a vehicle with a sledgehammer in 2020, and adjudication of guilt was withheld in that case; in 2024, he entered a plea of nolo contendere to trespassing on hunting land after a warning and was adjudicated guilty and fined. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $10,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sooner or later he is going to FAFO with the right person.
Ever time you turn a turn around its another one of those Reich Wing nutjobs going crazy 😧
This is my ex husband. He has beaten every one his 3 ex wives. His current girlfriend was beaten right before he was arrested yesterday. Rodney has been held accountable for beating up one car so far, but never for the women he’s beaten. Also, he has introduced his oldest two children to alcohol and drugs as young as age 12. Had my 16 (she’s 24 now) year old on meth and taken into CPS custody in San Angelo Texas. They tried to charge him with child abandonment/child endangerment and child neglect but he was homeless and got away. He has destroyed more lives and relationships than I can begin to count. He has even tried to kill me at one point and the El Mirage, AZ police said that the duct tape, plastic sheets, ropes and choke collar, ammonia, and loaded gun with homemade silencer looked bad in his truck, but no crime was committed. Good thing he was picked up on a felony expitiditable warrant for mailing meth in thru UPS. Anyway. This sorry excuse for a human needs to be locked up for life for the crimes he’s committed against his children alone! We are trying to get his battered and abused girlfriend help, she is cognitively unaware of what’s going on. It’s very sad.
Mark my words, if James Rodney Amburgey is let out of jail, he will continue to be a manace to society.
Can you help us understand what a girlfriend would see in someone like this? Is he a chameleon?
He’s got her doped up. He also preys on the weak, you’ll never see him confront a man. He is a woman abuser. Child abuser.
She (his girlfriend) said a few years ago that she would follow him into hell!
I just want him held accountable for his abuse and terrorism. He burned down their only shelter right before he was arrested so she would have no where to go.
He needs a date with Lucille and Negan. I’m pretty sure that’ll cure his clubbin’.
This is my brother. Everything Brandy said is true. He and I have been estranged for years.
I can’t, for the life of me, figure out how he could find anyone who would be with him.
I really hope he gets what’s coming to him. I hope he gets it in spades. He won’t come up on a man, only someone weaker than him. I hope there are some real ones in lock up with him.
Anyway you can show up for his hearing to let the judge know?
If I lived in Florida, I would. I’m in Arizona. I wish to God I could be there to testify to all that he’s done.
I can write an email to the judge, I suppose.
Forgot to mention he threw the club through the living room window where his granddaughter is usually playing
