GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Father’s Day will be a bit cooler, and some models show a chance of rain in the evening; the southern central part of the county has a chance for higher accumulation than other areas. The tropics are quiet, but forecasters are watching two areas for potential development (see below).

The National Hurricane Center is watching a system in the southern Gulf of Mexico and a new area in the Atlantic, just to the east of Florida. Spaghetti models (see below) show a chance that the Atlantic system could head across our area in the next 10 days, but not as a strong storm.
