  • Sanctuary cities…..have some ‘unpleasant’ consequences…..especially for law abiding citizens. Please don’t vote for idiots who can’t understand this.

  • College town are criminal catch-22s. Everybody tolerates crime more, so criminals get trapped in the system more, and cannot escape to a non-college town for more freedom. Hence the big new courthouses downtown — where the restaurants close.

    • Might also consider the extensive building on Tower Road. Amidst the new homes and apartments lurks one of the highest crime rates in the city. We need more police on Tower Road.

  • That is why a Lot of students live in Alachua, High Springs, Newberry or Worthington Springs all within 1/2 hour of campus

  • Gee, who would have thought that setting up a “zero-barrier homeless camp and paying them more and more money for every new bum imported would lead to the city being absolutely overrun with violent homeless drug addicts and molesters?

    Who would have ever thought that modeling our homeless policies on San Francisco, one of the world’s most notorious homeless hellholes, would lead to a rapid decline in the quality of life for normal citizens?

    Literally everyone–everyone except the brain-dead rubes on the Gainesville City Commission, that is. Throw the losers and bums out, starting with the GCC.

These “urban outdoorsmen” truly are victims of society and as such deserve to “work” every street corner, s**t where they want, communicate at intersections with you if your window is down and collect SNAP. After all – most of us have never dealt with problems as they have (sic).

  • Since Florida doesn’t allow ‘Sanctuary Cities’, former mayor Lauren Poe declared G’ville a ‘Welcoming City’. Same thing, different wrapper, same disaster.
