Briana Shantay Sheppard, 30, was arrested yesterday on a charge of aggravated battery after allegedly hitting a resident of GRACE Marketplace with a brick while he was sleeping.
The victim told police that we woke up to being struck in the head with a brick and saw Sheppard run into the office. He said he didn’t know Sheppard but that she had cut his wife’s hair one time. According to the arrest report, Sheppard is employed as a hairdresser. The victim said he and Sheppard had never had any altercation before this incident.
The incident was captured on surveillance video, and a Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the video showed the victim asleep in bed when Sheppard walked up with a brick in her hand and swung it at the side of the victim’s head. She then reportedly dropped the brick and ran into the office.
Post Miranda, Sheppard reportedly admitting to punching the victim in the face but would not say what she hit him with, only that it was “something hard.” She reportedly said she was trying to “get back” at the victim for allegedly punching her at his workplace. The report said she had a small abrasion to her eyebrow. Sheppard is being held on $25,000 bail.
