Woman arrested after allegedly hitting motorcyclist who was trauma-alerted to hospital
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Cassandra Ann Davis, 61, was arrested late last night and charged with failing to stop after a crash involving serious injury and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage after allegedly making an improper turn and hitting a motorcyclist who was trauma-alerted to the hospital, then driving home.
At about 8:43 p.m. last night, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a report that a motorcyclist and car had been hit in the 800 block of NE Waldo Road. A witness told the officer that a vehicle later traced to Davis turned in front of an approaching motorcyclist who was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting her car; the motorcyclist reportedly landed on the hood of her car. Davis’ car also reportedly side-swiped another car before driving away.
The motorcyclist told the officer that he had a green light when the car cut him off. He was able to walk to the sidewalk after the accident, but he was later trauma-alerted to the hospital due to internal injuries.
The officer began taking pictures of the crash scene and found a piece of the car’s fender on the ground; the fender had a VIN number, and officers found that Davis is the registered owner of the car.
Two officers went to the address connected with the car registration and made contact with Davis. The officers reported that they found a car parked near the house under a car cover and asked if they could look at it. Davis reportedly gave her consent, and the car was reportedly missing the front fender and had significant damage including a cracked windshield.
Post Miranda, Davis reportedly said she was driving southbound on NE Waldo Road and made a left turn on NE 8th Avenue with a yellow light. She said she did not see the approaching motorcycle as she turned and that she left the scene of the accident because her driver’s license is not valid. She said she did not remember side-swiping the second car.
The motorcycle damage was approximately $4,000, and the damage to the car was estimated at $2,000.
Davis has one misdemeanor conviction (none violent). Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $198.

bail 198 dollars
Yeah that a real deterrent!
Glad their were no fatalities.
She needed that hit bad 😜
Southbound on Waldo, and a Left onto 8th against a yellow light.
She wanted some of that buddah!
Another person with no moral compass. She knew she hit a motorcycle. The rider landed on her car hood. She left the scene without any regard to the well being of the rider. All because she doesnt have a valid D.L. if she would have stayed at the scene she would have gotten a ticket. But NO she left without a care in the world and then tried to hide the car. And of course Tommy Boy strikes again with his stupid bail amounts. If she would gave caused a fatality Tommy Boy in his stupidity would have probably set her bond at $200.
The pattern is clear.
Yep, feed lawyers AND insurance companies.
I hope the motorcyclist has uninsured motorist, because this winner most likely has no insurance. I think I hear a Dan Newlin commercial playing somewhere….
Have you every heard of getting blood from a stone? The women doesn’t have a valid drivers licence and most likely no insurance either. Ain’t no $$$ here. She should have her licence revoked and car impounded. Restitution for injuries and damage to motorcycle? Ha! Good luck with that.
She hit the motorcyclist with no regard for his life, drove home and covered up her car, then lied to police.
Gets a $198 bail?
Get used to it, that’s where the city’s new improved eastside sports center (MLK Citizens Field) will be soon. Another local road and intersection to avoid on your list, just for hapless tourists and students with GPS now.
GOOD GRIEF! I was safer in JAX, I returned to GNV to live out my life in peace & ~quiet!
Accurate observation.
Drivers in Gainesville have become increasingly aggressive and situationally unaware over the past couple of months– it will only get worse when school starts again. Seems like there are a lot fewer enforcement vehicles on the road as well. Bad trend.
It’s because all the cops are out following people who are buying drugs for themselves, instead of preventing/catching actual crime.
Hit and run with injuries and no drivers license and Jaworski sets bail at $198. Really? When is he up for removal from office?
He probably recognized that the motorcycle must have been doing something stupid, as they usually are, so he didn’t want to get ridiculous with it.

Motorcyclists: watch out for cars. WE’RE BIGGER THAN YOU!
Was the Bail set at $198.00 Oh my goodness.
Are you kidding me? $198 bail how is this acceptable? how do we bring this to light?
Does that mean she only has to pay $19.80 to get out of jail? Or was her bond set at $1,980? I’m confused.
