Woman arrested for breaking into powersports dealership tells police she’d “rather break in than go around shooting people”

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Heaven Kiana Hicks, 19, was arrested yesterday evening for allegedly breaking into Solano Cycle on S. Main Street and trying to steal a dirt bike.

At about 6:15 p.m., a witness called 911 to report that someone was breaking into the business. At about the same time, the business owner called 911 to report that he was watching someone on the surveillance video inside the business who was pushing a dirt bike from the rear of the store to the main entrance. He reported that she could be seen trying to start the bike, which is valued at $1,299, and that she had opened one of the cash registers, but there was no money in it.

A Gainesville Police Department officer arrived and saw that that glass door was broken; he then saw someone inside. He gave her commands to walk toward officers, and as she approached, an officer asked her if she worked at the business. She reportedly replied, “No, I just broke in.”

Post Miranda, Hicks reportedly admitted to walking to the business and breaking in. She reportedly said that she would rather break in than go around shooting people. She also said she couldn’t start anything inside the business without gas.

Hicks has been charged with burglary and attempted grand theft. She has a juvenile history and has been released from jail with a condition for day reporting.

  • Hmmm……I guess she was just feeling ‘nice’ enough to just break in and steal versus shooting people. How lucky for us? I can tell this ‘victim’ needs an extra dose of liberal ‘equity’ paid for by you & me?
