Woman arrested for chasing a man while holding a knife

Staff report

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Jasmine Marie Marrero (aka Marrera), 31, was arrested last night after allegedly hitting a man, kicking a hole in a door, and chasing the man while holding a serrated knife.

At about 9 p.m. on January 18, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence (all information about the location of this incident was redacted), where the victim said he and Marrero were arguing when she started hitting him. Deputies reported that Marrero grabbed a serrated knife from a knife block and started walking toward the victim, who retreated into a bedroom and tried to hold the door closed. Marrero allegedly kicked a hole in the door and pushed her way into the room before chasing the victim outside while holding the knife; at some point, Marrero stopped chasing the victim, went inside the residence, and locked the door behind her. The victim called 911 from outside the residence.

Deputies reported that the victim had redness and marks that were consistent with being punched, and the bedroom door had an obvious hole in the lower half; the hinges of the door were also bent, consistent with an attempt to force the door open. The victim described the knife, and a knife matching that description was reportedly found in the knife block.

Post Miranda, Marrero reportedly admitted to chasing the victim into a bedroom, forcing the door open, and chasing him outside, but she said she never had a knife.

Marrero has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. She has no local criminal history, and Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $40,000.

  • They don’t want to release mugshots and now they’re withholding addresses of alleged crimes.
Is the commission behind this too? Are they trying to hide something?

    • Yeah, no doubt it was either Ward’s or Perry’s mistress!

      Cripes, give it a rest.

  • Unless she was possessed by Satan (likely), that “residence” has very cheap doors and hinges. I think we owe it to the public to know exactly which complex or neighborhood this occurrence occurred at. 🤓

  • “She has no local criminal history”

Might want to check her criminal history from her ‘home’ country?
You know….like Mexico, San Salvador, Honduras, etc. like Biden should have done.

  • She has history from Marion County that shows her domestic violence tendencies.
