Woman arrested for intentionally backing into husband’s vehicle
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tasha Katrina Benjamin, 44, was arrested yesterday and charged with property damage over $200 after allegedly backing her vehicle into her husband’s vehicle during an argument.
At about 3:59 p.m. on January 4, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Arbor Park Apartments (309 SW 16th Avenue), where the victim said he and Benjamin had argued at that location and Benjamin intentionally backed her vehicle into his vehicle before leaving. Officers were unable to locate Benjamin at that time.
At about 9:31 p.m., the victim called law enforcement again to say he had located Benjamin and was following her vehicle; an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of SW Archer Road.
The officer noted that the rear of Benjamin’s car appeared to have fresh damage and the victim’s vehicle had obvious damage to its front end. The damage to the victim’s vehicle was estimated at $500.
Post Miranda, Benjamin reportedly said the damage on her car had been there for a few months. The arresting officer reported that traffic cameras showed that the vehicle had no damage before January 4.
Benjamin has six felony convictions (none violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (none violent). She was arrested for domestic battery in 2022, but the charges were later dropped; the arresting officer in that case noted that the couple had a history of domestic violence. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $25,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Toxic
While she seems active in her criminal life, this sounds like just another domestic tiff between spouses who don’t get along. Property damage between family between family members belong in civil court, not in criminal court. Their lives, their problem. Not societies.
Interesting that camera showed no damage to car BEFORE incident. Images routinely collected, ID’d and filed?
Sure are thanks to Vigilant and Flock.. time, date, location and direction of travel all recorded. forever.. big bother has been a part of our lives for a while now.
Remember people, once a day as you pass a traffic cam look right at it and say “I love Big Brother.”
Fans of Big Brother and surveillance societies will have an upcoming four years of orgasms of joy. Fans of freedom and dislike of a “Papers, Please” society are about to have a rude awakening.
Why? Regardless of whether you agree or not, some folks elected 47. People forget elections have consequences, and they may not think through what those consequences are going to be. 47 has promised to put a rush on deporting 11,000,000 undocumented immigrants. Before the Government can send these 11,000,000 to a concentration camp run by a for profit prison company, on their way to deportation, First the Government has to FIND the 11,000,000 who DO NOT WANT TO BE FOUND. This will require a surveillance state and “Papers, Please” society the likes of which America has never been.
The Government, with their shrinking budget(right), will have to hire a huge army of agents to find and process these deportees. There are not enough qualified people in America. The USA will have to issue H1B visas to hire every retired Soviet KGB agent on earth to man the Deportation Army, as they have the skills needed to do this kind of work.
When good ole boys get tired of having cops ask them for “Papers, Please” it will be necessary to remind them “this is what you voted for, enjoy.” To find the 11,000,000 it will be necessary to stomp on the rights of the other 330,000,000. The next four years will be interesting.
What a pile of crap. Get the 11 million out. NOW!!!
Old saying “the devil is in the details.” Your statement shows why the MAGA philosophy is going to fail often in being implemented.
“Get the 11 million out. NOW!!!” OK, you have a goal. How are you going to do it? Unless you can answer that, you go nowhere.
Using an example you might understand, I might say “let’s go to Mars as soon as possible.” A statement of a goal. The next valid questions are “How? How big a rocket do we need? Do we stop at the moon? How much will it cost? Who gonna pay for the trillions?”
Unless those questions are answered, no one is ever getting to Mars. Goal never achieved.
So unless you can answer the real questions, you are just a generator of MAGA hot air.
How will you identify the 11M?
How many agents will it take?
When you round them up, where will you put them?
Where will you deport them to if their country of origin will not take them back?
How many trillions will it cost?
Where will the money come from when Elon cuts Federal spending by trillions?
Answer these questions or your “Get the 11 million out. NOW!!!” is just MAGA hot air.
Not HIS car. Married, community property state. Their car. No crime, unless insurance claim filed.
I am kind of confused on this also. At most if he was in the car at the time of her hitting it a domestic agg battery charge would be more appropriate.. but if he was not in it…. where do they think the criminal mischief with community property is right? I could also see perhaps a reckless driving charge as well.
Thanks for wasting my tax dollars on this arrest … SMDH
WTF would anyone marry someone with “ Benjamin has six felony convictions (none violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions”…
Oh yeah, it’s District 1 / SWAG logic.

That fact people can get on here and her judge. All her charges come from her cheating abusive husband this a very sad situation. I’m confuse why they even made Frontline there’s so much other horrible things going on in this world that you guys could’ve put on there.
I’m glad the Chronicle published this, because it shows the public that the gpd will arrest a woman for minor damage on COMMUNAL property and worse, that a judge sets a $25k bail instead of laughing at the arrest and letting that poor woman go
Her husband is most definitely abusive. I saw it first hand. She should have… nvmd
Yall act like she has no ability to leave.
