Woman arrested for pointing gun at son’s father

BY JENNIFER CABRERA
Karina Jean Bowman, 24, was arrested yesterday afternoon after her son’s father told police that she pointed a gun at him.
The victim told police that he went to Bowman’s house to see his son and that she became upset that he was taking pictures of their son, took his phone, and smashed it on the ground. He explained that he had to wait for his scooter to charge before leaving the apartment, and while he waited, they continued to argue. He said the argument escalated, and Bowman pulled out a pistol and pointed it at him. He said he was afraid she would shoot him, so he rushed her, slammed her to the ground, and was able to wrestle the gun from her, at which point he unloaded it. He told police that she has two pistols.
Post Miranda, Bowman reportedly told police that the victim attacked her and choked her because she wanted him to leave. She reportedly told police at first that she does not own any guns, but the officer reported that she later took a clear plastic bag from a backpack; the bag contained two pistols with magazines and ammunition. She then reportedly told police the guns were hers and that she had bought them for her protection. The report noted that both Bowman and the victim had scratches and bruises, and the face of the victim’s cell phone was smashed.
Bowman has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and is being held on $200,000 bail.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Unspecified city/location (in a county of 969 square miles), no arresting agency mentioned. Maybe it’s supposed to be extra scary and mysterious, like a War Zone where location-less crimes and unknown police are around all the time in a Fearful Fog of War
WCJB (6/12/22): Gainesville police officers say that Karina Bowman, 24, got increasingly upset at his father when he took pictures of their son.
“He had to wait for his scooter to charge before he could leave”…the father sounds like a bum.
These are post-Amber Heard times. Crazy females no longer get automatically believed. Sorry, baby.
Jeff: the guy came to HER house. She asked him to
Leave and things escalated. He should have fully
Charged his scooter before he came over and left
When she asked him too… he should have left. Her
Bond is too high. If I came to your house and argued with you and you asked me to leave, I would leave.
He could have left and SHOULD have left. If you want
To say that uninvited guests have rights, well they do,
But this was not a hole filled with serpants. If a court
Ordered him visitation rights, that’s a different story.
