Woman arrested for punching a stranger, then charged with battery on a jail inmate the next day

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Christyanna Theddricka Bradley, 20, was arrested yesterday for allegedly running up to a stranger and punching her; the next morning, she was also charged with punching another jail inmate.

At about 2:06 p.m. on November 6, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to the 1100 block of SE 19th Street, where the victim said she heard someone running toward her and turned around to see why that person was running. She said that when she turned around, Bradley kept running toward her and punched her several times in the face. The victim said she had to pin Bradley against a chain link fence to stop the attack. The victim said she did not know Bradley and had never seen her before. The victim suffered a minor injury to her face.

A witness reportedly told the officer she was driving down the street when she saw Bradley attack the victim, so she stopped to call 911.

The officer reported that before she read the Miranda warning, Bradley said she thought the victim was talking about her and decided to fight her. She said she didn’t know the victim at all but saw her walking before she ran up to her and punched her. Post Miranda, the officer reported that Bradley did not verbally answer questions but just nodded; when asked if she punched the victim in the face, she reportedly nodded “yes.”

The next morning, a jail inmate reported that she entered a cell after her First Appearance hearing and asked Bradley if she knew how to use the phone. She said she was sitting on the toilet using the phone when Bradley came up behind her and punched her four or five times on the side of her face.

When asked what happened, Bradley reportedly said the victim was “saying some ****” to her and they got into a fight. Post Miranda, she reportedly declined to answer questions.

Bradley has been charged with simple battery and battery on a person detained in a jail facility. She has a juvenile conviction and one adult misdemeanor conviction. Judge Adam Lee set bail at $3,500 on the simple battery charge, and bail will be set tomorrow on the second charge.
