Woman charged with battery on officers after being asked to stop doing her laundry at Shands
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jessica Marie Parker, 33, was arrested yesterday after spitting on and kicking police officers who asked her to leave UF Health Shands, where she was reportedly doing her laundry despite being trespassed from the hospital.
At about 3:20 p.m. on September 14, Gainesville Police Department officers responded to a report that Parker was doing her laundry at UF Health Shands Hospital (1515 SW Archer Road). Parker was previously trespassed from the hospital in January 2025 and was arrested on that date when she refused to leave the property.
The arresting officer reported that Parker initially refused to identify herself but said she had recently been a patient at the hospital. Hospital security staff told the officer that she had been released from the hospital two days before the incident and had no medical reason to be at the hospital.
When officers approached her to place her under arrest, Parker allegedly spat on one officer, struggled briefly while being handcuffed, and kicked another officer while she was being placed in a patrol vehicle. As the first officer made sure Parker’s legs were inside the vehicle so he could close the door, she allegedly spat on him a second time, directly in his face.
Parker, whose address is listed as St. Francis House, has been charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer and trespassing after a warning. She has two felony convictions (non-violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (one violent); she has served one state prison term and was released in 2013. She is facing a sworn complaint for shoplifting a box of tampons. She was last arrested in January for trespassing after a warning at UF Health Shands; after entering a plea of nolo contendere in March, she was fined $326, which she has not paid. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $20,500.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Don’t they have washing machines at St Francis?
Maybe Ward or Poe will allow her to do her laundry at their house?
Or…..maybe she could use a laundromat on the Eastside? Or….have they all been closed due to robbing and thieving?
Anyone want to open one on the Eastside?
You’re saying stealing is ok if you have what you deem a good reason, or a need? How about getting a job? I hope you’re not a parent.
Remember Jean val Jean? I guess that was just a fairy tale? Compassion is nothing?
Stealing tampons? Aren’t there free ones in the Men’s Room?
I salute our officers for what they have to put up with.
Two down votes on this comment. What could possibly be objectionable about noting the police do good work and get spat on for it?!? Clearly from the one or two deranged leftists who read the AC to complain about it. Thats predictable, because we know the left MURDERED CHARLIE KIRK IN FRONT OF HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN.
This lady clearly displays mental health issues, and an assessment is clearly warranted. Sad indictment.
You can be mentally ill and also a criminal. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
Likely from past drug use, like other impossible to live with cases. Stop supporting open drug borders.
WTF did they decontaminate the hospital afterwards? So anybody can go do their laundry anywhere now, even hospitals?
ACLUSPLCDNC 👹💩👿🤡👺
It doesn’t say but is it possible the cops were being arrogant pricks like they usually are with homeless people and deserved to be spit on and kicked, just asking.
