GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Myel Izella Irene McCann, 20, was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with resisting arrest after allegedly running from deputies who were serving a warrant for her arrest on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child under 16.
The warrant for her arrest lists three counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a child between the ages of 12 and 16; the incident date is listed as June 1, 2022.
Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies set up a “date” with McCann and went to pick her up. When she got about five feet away from their vehicle, a deputy opened the door and announced that he had a warrant for her arrest. McCann allegedly began to scream and run back towards the residence. She allegedly did not comply with commands to stop. The deputy reported that he deployed his taser, and she was detained.
McCann has two misdemeanor convictions; she is being held on bail of $1,050,000 on the charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and another $25,000 on the charge of resisting arrest.
