Woman on probation arrested for stealing dirt bike
Staff report
HAWTHORNE, Fla. – Lisandra Rivera, 38, of Hawthorne, was arrested early this morning and charged with theft and burglary of an occupied dwelling after allegedly entering a covered porch and stealing a child’s electric dirt bike.
At about 3:45 a.m., an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a home in Hawthorne where the victim said Rivera entered his fenced property and took a child’s dirt bike worth about $200 from a covered porch. The victim followed Rivera as she allegedly left the property with the dirt bike and kept her in sight until the deputy arrived. The deputy reportedly recovered the dirt bike and arrested Rivera. The incident was also reportedly captured on a doorbell camera.
Rivera has two felony convictions (none violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (none violent). She was sentenced to a year of probation last January after entering a plea of nolo contendere to a charge of possession of a controlled substance. A warrant for her arrest was issued in September 2023 after she violated multiple conditions of her probation, and she was arrested a few days later. She was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and the probation was extended by an additional year.
Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $45,000. She has not yet been charged with violating probation, so that charge will likely be added in-house.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Shame on her for stealing. Rot in hell because she stole a kid’s scooter. Probably rocking the dope again.
Well, good on the judge for putting $45,000 bail on this thief who trespassed and (attempted) to steal a kid’s $200 dirt bike while on probation.
Citizens would feel more at ease though if we could see more consistent application of the law. We see stories every day of people committing far more serious crimes and receiving far less bail.
I love your username “Gainesville Dad”. This “kids” bike was his son’s. So put yourself in the shoes of that father who felt the need to get his child’s property back and hold this criminal accountable for trespassing onto his property and stealing something that was not hers. Imagine how that child feels now… so you’re right she “attempted” and didn’t get away with it like she thought she would. Sorry you feel like this crime didn’t deserve as high of a bail for someone who has already broken the law multiple times. Did you even read the article? She was already given a get out of jail free card and was on probation.
I think ‘Gainesville Dad’ was lamenting the disparity of bail amounts many of our liberal judges usually hand out.
Yeah I thought the same thing. Gainesville Dad’s comment went right over “Be Better Dad’s” head lmao. All that effort they put into the comment too.
BBD: You misunderstood my comment. I am saying that I am glad the judge threw the book at this serial thief (for once).
If I wrote what this thief actually deserved for trespassing and stealing, I am pretty sure the comment wouldn’t get posted. Think about swiss cheese.
I am just noting that I wish other criminals also got harsher penalties than the slap on the wrist they always seem to get.
GD: I’m sorry for writing an emotional response and misreading your comment. I’m related to the victim so I appreciate your kind response back. I agree 1000%!! That’s why we were all relieved to see her high bail amount. A judge finally holding her accountable.
I believe committing a burglary of an occupied dwelling is pretty serious. Especially from a criminal who already has a record.
Smiling, (not in her mugshot), and stealing a kid’s lollipop…scooter?
She should run for public office, she’ll fit right in.
Are they sure about “her” gender? She stole a dirt bike, too?
She can pass for the predators daughter she’s got a real strong chin and it looks like her mouth will open just like the predators she must have watched the child play on his dirt bike and probably followed him home what a shame she probably has kids and don’t give a damn about them like she didn’t give a damn about the crime she committed well at least she’s in jail nobody’s going to postpone for her to get out like that
What I learned when I looked her up on the Clerk of Court’s website and read about her CF in 2022, is that she was born in Palm Beach county and is, in fact, married to a person identifying as a woman. I maintain that this county is a magnet for deranged people and we have to put up with them. I feel sorry if there is a child involved in this mess. smh..
