Woman with 60 criminal convictions arrested for nine thefts, including a $1,200 bottle of whiskey

Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Marie Kimberly Brown, 58, was arrested yesterday for nine thefts, including a bottle of Macallan single malt scotch whiskey valued at $1,229.99; charges for more thefts are pending.
At about 6:09 p.m. on June 3, Brown and Everett Beeghley, 39, allegedly went to Bath and Body Works (3948 SW Archer Road) and walked out with items valued at $667.58. Beeghley was arrested yesterday at the CVS at 1613 SW 13th Street and charged with three theft cases and two counts of organized retail theft for allegedly stealing from CVS and Lowe’s more than five times each over 30 days.
At about 1:09 a.m. on June 4, Brown and Beeghley went to the CVS at 1621 SW 13th Street, where an employee recognized Brown as someone who often steals from the store and asked her to leave. She and Beeghley allegedly loaded the cart quickly and walked out with items valued at $598.07 before leaving in a red pickup truck.
At about 6:45 p.m. on June 4, The Good Pour (5180 SW 34th Street) reported that Brown selected a bottle of Macallan Harmony Collection Fine Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, put the bottle in a duffle bag, walked out of the store without paying, and then left in a silver Ford Edge.
A Gainesville Police Department detective reviewed surveillance video from the store and immediately recognized Brown as a “prolific thief” who has committed numerous thefts over the past month but has evaded capture.
At about 9:25 p.m. on June 4, Brown went to the CVS at 3904 NW 13th Street and filled a shopping cart with items valued at $106.94 before allegedly walking out without paying about two minutes later. The responding detective reported that Brown had stolen items from the same store “NUMEROUS” times over the past two months, depriving CVS of thousands of dollars’ worth of inventory. The detective noted that he had given his number to employees with instructions to call, even late at night, if Brown entered the store because she had “between 20-30 KNOWN theft cases… in the past several months.”
At about 9:45 a.m. on June 5, Brown allegedly went to the Dollar General at 2112 SW 13th Street and selected various items before pushing her cart out without paying and loading most of the items into a silver Ford Edge. The store manager confronted her and pulled the cart away from her, but she allegedly got into the car and drove away with items valued at $69.15.
At about 12:25 p.m. on June 5, the detective learned that Brown was inside the Haven Hospice Attic (300 NW 8th Avenue), where she allegedly selected $50 in shoes and clothing, concealed them in a large laundry hamper, and tried to walk out but was detained by the detective and finally arrested.
Brown has been charged in nine felony theft cases, and eight more are currently pending. She has 47 felony convictions (six violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (three violent); she has served 11 prison sentences, almost all out of Alachua County, with her most recent release in January 2022. Judge Denise Ferrero set bail at $500,000.
Beeghley has been charged with six felonies and four misdemeanors, all related to shoplifting. He has five misdemeanor convictions (one violent), and Judge Ferrero set his bail at $270,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Such an entitled attitude! I hope she gets locked away for a long time. Thieves like this cause prices to go up for all of us, while she’s freeloading her life away!!
Well, she has great taste in Scotch whiskey.
Lol. The click bait for me was the 1200$ scotch. “Like, whuttt?” (that was the literal noise in my head).
Frank and Bianca! IYKYK 🤣
Why is she still on the street, instead of in an uncomfortable prison with a 20 year sentence? Remember when they had hard labor until the girly liberals got all upset at the “inhumane” treatment? We didn’t get a lot of repeats back then.
you are 100 percent correct
We need stronger deterents to these serial shoplifters. These are just the ones they got caught at. These people do this because they know there’s nothing employees can do really and the consequences if they do get caught are so minimal.
The $500k bail seems like a lot more than local manslaughterers typically get. Da Judg must take scotch whiskey theft extra seriously for some reason.
Or, it’s the 60 prior convictions, dunno…
My bet is that bottle will be held in an evidence locker until order destroyed at the case.
My bet is it will be destroyed slowly. Very slowly. Almost like evaporation. A sip at a time perhaps.
Problem is these actions are not responded to with any force. “just let’em go and call the police.” when a felony is being committed. How many times should you let someone steal from you? I know what would have happened when I owned a retail store, if anyone tried that.
Trump’s tariffs aren’t the only cause of rising prices. Theft also contributes.
She doesn’t deserve a jar. Just put her in the ground somewhere.
Headstone can read, ‘I tried my best, but 60 times I found myself under arrest. If you let me run, next time I may use a gun. Didn’t work to keep me bound, now I’m here underground.’
That box thing sounds pretty good.
how do you get $600 worth of junk from CVS, that’s almost impressive
I thought the same thing, but it is not too terribly hard given the prices of stuff there.
11 prison sentences! Unbelievable. Brown should have been locked up for life by now.
Store clerks should of smacked them in the head with a baseball bat.
Lock up for life.
Being a thief is bad enough but a greedy thief is worse.
She has 47 felony convictions (six violent) and 13 misdemeanor convictions (three violent); she has served 11 prison sentences.
Stop letting her out!!!
Good taste in whiskey….
Since our culture doesn’t support chopping off their hands like others do. Lock them up and throw away the key.
Make her live with all the scummy judges and public lawyers of years past. Rotating a rent free room in their homes every month.
ACLUSPLCDNC 💩👺👿👹🤡
This guy used to be clean and dated a beautiful girl I know and wow here you go….drugs are bad mmmmnkay
Given her history why is she out on the streets?
She’s a crackhead from Kennedy Homes apartments been like that
Fabulous, really? You are dynamite.
Is it Brown or Beeghley that is doing the stealing?
According to the article, both contributed to the stealing.
39 on 58. Wow.
Kleptomaniacs and their 5 finger discounts lol.
