As promised, DeSantis vetoes immigration bill passed during Special Session B

BY JENNIFER CABRERA
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Governor Ron DeSantis has vetoed Senate Bill 2-B (CS/SB 2-B), as he promised shortly after it was passed during a special session called by the legislative leadership.
DeSantis called a special session of the legislature for January 27 to address illegal immigration, condominium regulation, hurricane relief funds, and the citizens’ initiative petition process. However, the legislative leadership disagreed with DeSantis’s proposals and quickly ended Special Session A without taking up any of the bills that had been filed. They immediately opened Special Session B to consider one lengthy bill that included some of DeSantis’s priorities but also moved enforcement of illegal immigration under the Commissioner of Agriculture.
DeSantis quickly vowed to veto the bill, which was not presented to him until today.
In the meantime, the legislative leadership called Special Session C, which began on February 11 and resulted in the passage of two bills; DeSantis signed them on February 13.
In his veto letter, DeSantis wrote that he vetoed the bill from Special Session B because “stronger, more aggressive bills have been produced that will further establish Florida as the nation’s leader in immigration policy. As I originally called for, SB 2-C and SB 4-C make it a state crime to enter or re-enter
Florida as an illegal alien, expand the Unauthorized Alien Transport Program, end reckless catch-and-release policies, enhance penalties for illegal aliens who commit crimes in the state, enhance penalties for transnational crime organizations, create crimes for illegal aliens voting in elections, and put state and local officials on notice that failure to enforce immigrations laws could result in suspension from office. SB 2-C and SB 4-C address the deficiencies of CS/SB 2-B to ensure that these initiatives are both constitutional and demonstrate that we are fully supporting the federal government in its enforcement of immigration law.”
Deport ALL illegal aliens permanently.
It should be noted that only two of our local legislators voted against SB-2: Sen Jennifer Bradley (R) and Rep Yvonne Hinson (D).
Our big-talking CON-sevative RINOs Sen Stan McClain and Rep Chuck “Nepostism” Brannan were in favor of this open-borders mockery, cynically titled the TRUMP Act, because they think the voters are idiots. They wanted to put the Ag Commissioner in charge of immigration enforcement.
Rep Chad Johnson abstained… really earning that paycheck. He found a way to appease the open borders lobby without having to record a vote that could hurt his conservative voter score… maybe the worst of the bunch.
Many voters are idiots.
Yvonne Hinson is not for anything that doesn’t give taxpayer money to her community.
This is the ALACHUA Chronicle, not the Baker or Glichrist or Levy or Union Chronicle.
I think you’re in the wrong place with the “rino” BS.
Just starve lawyers. That’s what everybody should focus on. The illegal aliens take jobs from crime-groomed citizens going thru courthouse revolving doors. Biden ICE “protected” illegals the same time citizens were being prosecuted — and both groups released.

Lower our homeowners’ insurance rates.
Need help?
Any insurer offering homeowner’s insurance AND vehicle insurance will be prohibited from offering vehicle insurance unless homeowner’s premiums are reduced. For those concerned, there’s a lot of uninsured motorists out there already and Florida being the 3rd most populated state, it’ll probably get some attention.
