ASO still seeking one person connected to Williston Road manhunt yesterday

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) is still looking for one person after a manhunt yesterday in the area of SW 35th Drive and SW Williston Road for three suspects who may have been armed.

ASO announced yesterday that they were seeking two white men and one white woman after they received a report about an armed suspect who fled into a wooded area near the Gainesville Country Club. Residents of the area were briefly asked to shelter in place.

One man was detained but was released after interviews with detectives. A second man has been identified and is known to have multiple warrants from several different counties, and deputies are still looking for him.

According to a spokesman from ASO, the investigation, which included reviewing surveillance camera footage and interviewing witnesses, did not confirm that the suspect was armed; that report came from a single witness who saw the suspects run from the gas station.
