Florida Medical Examiners Commission confirms one storm-related death in Alachua County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Medical Examiners Commission has confirmed one death from Hurricane Idalia, a traffic death in Alachua County.
A 59-year-old Gainesville man was killedhttps://alachuachronicle.com/gainesville-man-killed-in-single-vehicle-crash/ early Wednesday morning when his truck ran off SE Hawthorne Road into a ditch in heavy rain.
Florida District Medical Examiners report hurricane deaths to the Medical Examiners Commission (MEC) following examinations and confirming the death is storm-related. FDLE staffs the Florida Medical Examiners Commission. MEC will continue to provide daily updates as needed.
