Fourth suspect arrested in daytime armed robbery in Holly Heights

A fourth suspect has been arrested in a July 5 armed robbery in Holly Heights (500 block of SW 68th Terrace). According to documents filed in the case, at least five suspects attempted to rob a young couple who were getting in their car to run errands in the middle of the day. The woman was pregnant at the time.

Anthony Maurkice Bunn, who turned 30 today, was arrested on August 28. He has “significant criminal history,” is a known gang member, and was released from prison on May 22, 2021. Court documents indicate that Bunn is believed to be the ringleader of the group. He has been charged with armed robbery, armed burglary of a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is being held on $1,050,000 bond.

Montrell Cervonté Carter, 19, has been charged with armed robbery, armed burglary of a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. He has not yet been arrested. Carter was previously arrested in February of 2020 for stealing an iPhone from a vehicle. He entered a plea of nolo contendere to charges of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, petit theft, and resisting an officer without violence. He received 180 days of probation with credit for 92 days in Alachua County Jail, and he finished the probation in July of 2020. He still owes $771, which has been turned over to collections. Gainesville Police Department sent out an alert this afternoon asking assistance in locating Carter in connection with the Green Apple Store shooting this week.

Catrell Lavon Evans, Jr, 18, was arrested on July 7 from a warrant on previous charges of battering an officer, resisting arrest with violence, and damaging a patrol car. He has also been charged with armed robbery, armed burglary of a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a delinquent in this case. The Alachua County Jail site lists his total bond as $242,500.

Quantavis Lavon Jackson, who turned 18 in September, was arrested yesterday. He has a juvenile history including a firearms charge and resisting law enforcement. He has been charged with armed robbery and armed burglary of a vehicle. The Alachua County Jail site lists his bond at $750,000.

Lorenzo Jamal Fitzgerald Smith, Jr., 23, was arrested on August 25. According to court records, he has “significant criminal history including firearms charges, drug sales charges, and providing false information during a criminal investigation.” He has three other pending cases, two misdemeanor batteries and a felony case that includes aggravated battery with a firearm, strangulation, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and making written threats to kill. In this case, he has been charged with armed robbery, armed burglary of a vehicle, and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. The Jail site lists his bond at $1,475,000.
