Gainesville woman arrested for threatening family member while holding a knife

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Katie Graham Wilson, 78, was arrested yesterday for allegedly raising a knife toward a family member during an argument.

At about 9:51 p.m. on June 12, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to an apartment in Pine Grove Apartments (1901 NE 2nd Street) and noted that he had responded to a call about an argument at the same address about 10 minutes before receiving this call.

The victim reportedly told the officer that he and Wilson had gotten into another argument, and Wilson took a butcher knife from the knife block in the kitchen, took it to the living room, and raised it toward the victim. The victim said he was in fear for his life, and although he often argues with Wilson, it had never escalated this far.

Post Miranda, Wilson reportedly said that the victim continually disrespects her, and she was tired of being disrespected in her own home. She reportedly admitted to pulling a knife but said she never pointed it at the victim and the victim knew she would not hurt him.

After the officer placed Wilson in handcuffs, she reportedly said that the victim also had a knife, but he pulled it after she already had a knife in her hand.

Wilson has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has two misdemeanor convictions (both violent); she was arrested in 2024 for cutting a neighbor with a knife in the elevator of her apartment building, but that charge was later dropped. Judge David Kreider ordered her held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Moms Mably with a blade ain’t no one to fool around with. Maybe Juneteenth can restore some semblance of cultural restraint?

    • “…and she was tired of being disrespected in her own home”…

How about that?.. The victim gets to stay in her place while she’s in jail…

Will she have to evict him to get him out of her home?

When she’s let out, she’ll have a no contact order and won’t be able to stay in her own place…

The victim needs to start looking for his own place now…

  • Stupid cops, they should have removed the so called victim from this ladys home and fixed her problem. the charges will be dropped by the DA.
