Georgia man recently arrested for pointing gun in road rage incident has been arrested again for burglary and battery at hotel

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Christopher O. Clemons, 34, of Quitman, GA, was arrested last night and charged with burglary and battery after allegedly breaking into a storage room at the Rodeway Inn on Williston Road; he also allegedly pushed and threatened to kill an employee. Clemons was arrested on February 3 for allegedly pointing a gun in a road rage incident on Archer Road and was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

At about 12:43 p.m. on Sunday, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the Rodeway Inn at 3459 SW Williston Road, where an employee told him Clemons had broken a lock on a storage room and had entered the storage room; Clemons reportedly left the storage room when he was discovered by an employee of the hotel.

Clemons allegedly ran toward another employee, saying that he was going to kill her and that he had a gun in his jumpsuit; he allegedly reached into the jumpsuit as if he were grabbing a gun. The victim, who is 72 years old, told the deputy she was in fear for her life. Clemons allegedly ran toward her again and pushed her.

Clemons was reportedly apprehended in the pool area of the hotel. Deputies took him to an emergency room to be medically evaluated, and he allegedly became combative and resisted being handcuffed.

Post Miranda, he reportedly declined to answer questions.

Clemons has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, battery on a person over 65, resisting an officer without violence, trespassing, and making a threat to do violence. He has unspecified convictions in another Florida county and in another state and the pending Alachua County charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $140,000 and ordered that he be seen by mental health staff at the jail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Georgia man? Heck no, he’s all ACR now. Assimilated and adapted very nicely to exactly what’s expected of him. Welcome to the land low bonds and never ending second chances, you’re right were you belong!

  • He didn’t shoot no one as I projected in the road rage thing, but somehow I knew this guy would be back in the clank for something.

  • Q: Why do they release out of towners on low bail, if they must stay in town for hearings?
A: They don’t have anyplace to stay and will commit MORE crimes.

  • Yet another predator in a continuing string of low bails for violence and gun crimes. As usual, it results in more violence, this time on a 72 year old woman. I guess he hadn’t actually replaced the gun the police confiscated earlier.

  • Yall better let Rover take over. PC be damned. It will take his mind off cash and put in the grass

  • Susie must think counseling will help him. Hopefully soon he’ll pick on the wrong person. Since we know he’ll be out soon.

  • No or low bail is not working. This is on the last “Judge”. 100% his or her fault. Can this victim sue?

  • Oh, but he won’t be able to come up with the new bond, so will be ror in a couple of months. Can’t keep them in jail ONLY because they don’t have any $$
