Lynady sentenced to 50 years for murder of Maliyah Godwin

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jason Lee Lynady, Sr., 38, has been sentenced to 50 years in state prison for the murder of 13-year-old Maliyah Godwin on April 23, 2021.

Lynady was indicted by a Grand Jury for first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, tampering with physical evidence, and tampering with a witness on April 23, 2021. On April 25, 2023, Lynady entered a plea of nolo contendere to second-degree murder (a lesser included charge) and the other three original charges, and Judge James Colaw sentenced him to 50 years in state prison on the second-degree murder charge, with credit for 455 days served. He was sentenced to 15 years, 5 years, and 5 years on the other charges, with the sentences running concurrently.

  • Need to bring back the guillotine, this idiot is the perfect candidate. Enjoy those 50 years buddy.

  • Why does this person get to take an innocent life, but we don’t get to take his in the form of a death sentence? It’s not justice.

    • He’s small, smug & killed a child. He won’t survive in there with that on his papers. Especially not anywhere near 50 years.
      This basically IS a death sentence for him.
