Man on probation charged with robbing and beating 65-year-old victim
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Timothy Brian McCord, 39, was arrested yesterday for allegedly snatching $3 from a 65-year-old victim and then throwing the victim to the ground and kicking him in the ribs.
The victim told a Gainesville Police Department officer that at about 1:55 p.m. on July 10, McCord approached him in the 2400 block of SW 34th Street and asked him for money to buy an alcoholic beverage. He said he told McCord he only had $3, and when McCord asked him for the money, he said no.
The victim said that as he walked away, McCord snatched the $3 from his hands, then grabbed him by the back of his neck and threw him to the ground, then kicked him three times in his rib cage. The victim said he went into the nearby Circle K store and McCord followed him, yelling, “I’ll beat you to death if you don’t go out and make me some money.”
A cashier in the store reportedly said two customers had come into the store and said that McCord had attacked the victim. She said she went outside and saw that the victim was injured and that he said McCord had attacked him. She said the victim asked her to call the police.
The officer reported that the victim was bleeding and sustained multiple lacerations to his face, head, and other parts of his body.
Post Miranda, McCord reportedly denied snatching the victim’s money and denied attacking him.
McCord, whose address is listed as St. Francis House, has been described in court documents as homeless; the most recent document lists his residence as “Other.” He has four felony convictions (three violent) and 36 misdemeanor convictions (10 violent); he is currently on probation and was released from jail in June after serving a six-month sentence for battering a Target employee. He has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2021. Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $50,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
The only thing that will help this violence addict is a boat anchor.
Lead is also effective.
Cinder blocks are cheaper
Or a hot piece of lead
Start amputating a finger every time he keeps messing up again. Stuff will get real at that point.
Good thing he didn’t attack me. I carry and I am well trained.
Honest statement…I thought St Francis house was for women and children?…Am I mistaken? I hope I’m wrong…a man like this has no business around struggling families.
This is the problem with homeless shelters. They want to help people. And they attract predators. This is the problem with the Dis-Grace Center no background checks.
Wait until the motels that the County bought are open.
St. Francis House is for women and families with children. Mr. McCord may have used the address in order to obtain an I.D., and he may have received lunches there from late mornings to mid-afternoons if he had been cleared by GPD (“blue card”), but he wouldn’t have lived there.
So now panhandlers have escalated to violence to get what they want. What as to happen before our leaders get a grip on this? Get your sh*t together and protect us.
This is what you get when voting democrat Gainesville and Alachua County is just a small LA, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon Seattle, Washington Washington DC a run down crime riddle town
I’m sure Mayor Wimpy Ward will get right on that.
Given this bozo’s history he serves no useful purpose to the public. He has 40 convictions when does society say no more. Maybe a 25 year sentence would be in order. Given his appearance he be the one beaten everyday in prison.
Democrats, you have no one to blame but yourself. Because of your liberal ordinances, failure to prosecute, low or no bail for multiple violent offenders this s@#$ right here goes on.
Voters, you are just as guilty! Ya’ll have a nice day.
State’s Attorney Kramer is a Republican. The state legislature which writes our criminal laws – not the city or county commissions – has been Republican since the 80s.
Another repeat golden goose for our SCUMMY public lawyers and judges.
Elections have consequences. Vote different.

13 violent convictions warrants only a $50k bond
The “nearby” Circle K is a half-mile walk across Archer Road from Kelly’s Krak Stop where this started. And the victim, “Dallas”, has been trespassed from multiple Circle K locations for a year, and has been trespassed from all Walmart locations in Gainesville indefinitely. It seems to me like the two had been panhandling unsuccessfully together until McCord decided to play the role of panhandle pimp and demand a share of the meager take early.
He would have been such a wonderful citizen if it weren’t for systemic racism . . . oh, wait, that doesn’t work here. He would have been such a wonderful citizen if only there were agencies that helped people like him get back on their feet . . . oh, wait, that doesn’t work here. He would have been such a wonderful citizen if . . . [enter the next leftist excuse ad infinitum]
I tried to help this idiot that same day. Gave him a couple bucks. Be didn’t say it was for alcohol, he just said he was homeless. I’ve been through ro
through rough times so was just trying to help someone out, even if it’s just the little I can usually afford. Smh even told him to keep his head up.
Needs to stay in jail to be honest.
this same guy was following me and another customer last week in the TS in Jonesville!!!
