According to Gainesville Police Department, a vehicle hit a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway. The pedestrian was transported to UF Health Shands with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
Although the accident occurred close to the time of the shooting in the same area, there is currently no information about whether the incidents were connected.
Anyone who goes downtown after dark is just asking to be involved in some kind of life altering fracas.
Midtown is not downtown.
IMPACT GNV.

And I don’t go downtown don’t go ot I don’t Yun123GMail
It is so sad
I’m just wondering if there were contributing factors; drinking, texting, not using the crosswalk or panhandling. That may determine if the City does something stupid like banning vehicles between 11:00 pm & 7:00 am on weekends.
Hell no my cousin wasn’t panhandling and no he wasn’t drunk again the ppl that hit him was driving fast over the speed limit my cousin is about almost 6’9 almost 300 pounds now how da hell they hit him by kava and his body landed by red light by subway that should tell u that they was driving fast and it DNT matter who da hell it is when you driving you have to drive not only for yourself but for others too in other words pay attention to what is around you 😡😡😡
I’m sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and your family. I knew your cousin and he was a good person.
Lets lower the speed limit to 3.5 mph, that should do it, ok?
Could have been avoided if the person looked both ways before crossing.
One of the problems is mostly these young people are thank they are entitled who think they can cross the street anyway they want to wear dark clothing, not using crosswalks
He was a grown man and the driver is in jail
Ain’t nobody in jail no arrest was made🤨
One can’t help but wonder if they were preoccupied with looking both ways for bullets.
This person appears to have been crossing the road near Bank of America, and it appears that there was likely a speed factor when the person had shoes missing several hundred feet from the body. Per eyewitnesses, one of whom is my neighbor, stated that there were three people detained, and a gun in the car. The driver appeared to be very young however we know that looking young doesn’t necessarily mean they were under 21.
The guy was running from a shooting. probably not thinking about the cars coming
It have nth to do with the shooting, he was crossing the rood got hit in middle.
One might conclude he wasn’t a high scorer on Frogger.
Is there a “hookah lounge” and other parking lot party magnets there still? I bet the students living in the next door high rises appreciate being kept up from the noise on exam nights. That’s what sleep aids were invented for, inconsiderate “neighbors” coming from out of town to shoot and run over our fair community 👺💩🤡👹👿
Have not heard any updates. Anyone else?
OK, now get ready for the knee-jerk reaction of the city commission to either change speed limits, ban something, or set up another task force to study equity among drunk or distracted pedistrians. As I have always said, it is important to not hit someone walking but it is equally important to have enough situational awareness to not be BE HIT.
Maybe they had the right-of-way and got run down in a crosswalk by someone running a red light? I saw a low-riding car with bass music blasting go right through the red light at 17th and University last night while I was stopped. The “ain’t NO ONE tell ME what to do!!!” attitude can apply to red lights, apparently. I wouldn’t be so quick to blame the pedestrian. Hopefully it wasn’t someone from out of town visiting for graduation who wouldn’t know about Gangsville’s inhabitants and their ways.
So nobody getting arrested 🤔🤔🤔 the ppl that hit and killed him was driving fast so you mean to tell me no investigation or anything 🤨😭😭😭😭 #JusticeForBigDee
