Woman on pre-trial release arrested for trespassing after setting up makeshift bed in vacant house

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shameka Shontel Washington, 42, was arrested yesterday morning and charged with trespassing and marijuana possession after a leasing agent reported that she was sleeping in a vacant house; she was also arrested on a warrant for failing to appear at a court hearing in a previous felony case.

At about 11:15 a.m. yesterday, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a call from a leasing agent of a house in the 500 block of SW 2nd Street, reporting that Washington was inside the house without permission. Washington was previously trespassed from the property in September 2023.

The officer reported that Washington was inside the house and had set up a makeshift bed on the floor of a bedroom.

A search incident to arrest reportedly produced about a gram of marijuana.

Washington was previously arrested in April 2023 for stabbing a family member, and bail was set at $15,000. She was released on her own recognizance in May after prosecutors failed to file charges; formal charges were later filed in July. A warrant for her arrest was issued in February when she failed to appear at a court hearing.

Washington has four misdemeanor convictions (two violent). Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $15,000 for the previous felony charge and $2,500 for the new misdemeanor charges.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Here in this article we have an example of a hood rat specimen that has already been given time as per the Judicial System to get away from the “Rat Hole” and this specimen simply wouldn’t. I’m not sure if the leasing agent tried rat poison, which could have been what lured this hood rat species into the home.
(As stated in a previous summary, the hood rat has been observed to be immune and very tolerant to the effects of “drugs” found in the rat poisons distributed about in and around their neighborhoods) There are numerous addictive poisons readily available in the surrounding area where this specimen was located.
The effects of these poisons has obviously caused the specimen to “pass out” on a makeshift bed inside an empty dwelling.
Unfortunately for this specimen, no more of my teams observations can be made on this specimen until after the Judicial proceedings.
We will keep everyone informed of our observations and as always, watch out for “Hood Rats”.
    They are very elusive.

The judges and public lawyers are too jaded, and need to be subordinate to juries at every state from booking thru prison times. That’s the ONLY way we can help cops and the rest of the community. Plus a 200% pay raise to cops and EMTs — sell the courthouse, cut legal pay 50%, and move them to a converted old trailer park w/o AC window units.
Crime will suddenly plummet then, and so will our insurance overhead, as a result.

  • Why, in the name of all that’s holy would this woman be released ROR? Are the jails that crowded? Is this just considered to be so minor that ROR is given? Bet the judge wouldn’t think it was so minor if it were her house this poor woman was setting up camp in.
