Woman on probation arrested for possession of firearm

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jerrica Lashay Armstrong, 29, was arrested this morning and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; she is on probation and was released from state prison on April 8 after serving a 13-month sentence for shooting at her on-and-off girlfriend and a car full of children.

At about 2:21 a.m., an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a car near the Maa and Paa Grocery Store; the deputy noted that the car had hit a curb as it turned from SW 20th Avenue onto SW 61st Street.

The officer reported that Armstrong smelled of green marijuana and that her breath smelled like an alcoholic beverage. A probable cause search of the vehicle reportedly produced a loaded Ruger 9mm pistol and two bottles of vodka; at least one was open, with the lid in a pocket in the car door.

Armstrong is a Violent Felony Offender in Florida and recently completed a 13-month prison sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill; she is currently on probation in the same case. She has two felony convictions (two violent) and one misdemeanor conviction (violent). Judge Thomas Jaworski set bail at $25,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Damn.. yeaaaaah you’ve proven again that you don’t need 2b around people..

  • Released a few weeks ago. Violent felony offender gets a gun, dope, and booze. She wouldn’t be planning on shooting at her ex friend girl again. Way to go Tommy Boy on light bail. Retire soon please. You truly are an idiot judge.

  • How does someone who shot at a car with multiple occupants get ‘without intent to kill?’ Because she MISSED?!

And why the heck is this woman out after 13 months? I can’t fathom how these judges and lawyers sleep at night. And if she’d managed to kill someone this time, either with her gun or her car while driving drunk, they wouldn’t at all feel responsible for the fact that she was on the streets.

    • Midea who tried to run over the 14 year old kid on his bike the other day with her car should should get “with intent to kill” too!

I’m glad Jerry here got that tattoo of the broken heart on his neck so he can be identified easily!

The criminal justice system needs to reprogram these violent felony offenders with a minimum 5 year sentence each to protect the public! Next time, they may kill someone!

  • Bail? On probation. Didn’t learn much. Save time and take her back to prison.

  • How about prosecuting Judges if these alleged offenders are released and follow through with their original intent.

  • WTF “ Armstrong is a Violent Felony Offender in Florida and recently completed a 13-month prison sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill; she is currently on probation in the same case. She doesn’t take the law seriously because the law doesn’t either 💩👹🤡👿D, ACLU, SPLC

  • “Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a car near the Maa and Paa Grocery Store;”

That’s the store with bars on the windows & doors in section 8 nirvana. Closes at dark…..for obvious reasons.

  • Thirteen month prison sentence for shooting into an occupied vehicle? Then $25,000 bail for violating parole for a violent offense, and possessing a firearm by a convicted felon? When will our local liberals demand sentences that will deter gun crimes or encourage a move to other places that defund police and reduce crime enforcement?

  • If being ugly was a crime this chick would get life with NO parole. Shame she can’t be charged she’s been skating the system on everything else.
